Easter on Espiritu Santo

After 24 hour delay in  Brisbane we arrived Espiritu Santo April 20th. We were picked up at the airport by David, who had been to the airport and back a dozen times cause nobody could tell when we were arriving. Espiritiu Santo is Vanuatu`s largest island. Vanuatu is a Y-shaped chain of islands and is covered with green tropical forests. The water is crystal clear and the sandy beaches are lovely. We stayed with David in one of his houses close to the only town on the island, Luganville. There is alot to see here and we hired a car to get around on Santo. One of the best things to see here is the blue holes. The crystal clear, deep blue pools are fed by a freshwater spring and are unike for Vanuatu. We went swimming in one of the blue holes. David took us out in his boat one afternoon and we went snorkeling on a little island outside Santo. There are a lot of colourful fish and corals here. An other must see is Champagne beach. It has been rated one of the best beaches in the world (I do not have the referance to that piece of information). We were all alone on the beach and the water were amazingly blue and clear. Not a lot of tourists come here so there are no crowds a round.
